Zulu crafts weave history into heritage month

Zulu crafts are a vibrant and vital part of the South African culture. Beadwork, clay pots and a variety of weaved articles are intrinsic to modern day heritage and form the basis for many ceremonial events.

The Zulu crafts collection housed at the Phansi musuem affords visitors the opportunity to relish in the talents of the crafters and provides a vivid insight into Zulu heritage and Durban’s current identity.
The African Art Centre provides an outlet for modern rural crafters, skilled in this ancient work, to exhibit and sell their goods to tourists and locals looking for that iconic piece that will forever remind them of the Zulu heritage and culture.
