The aptly-named Rainbow Restaurant has been a cultural crossroads and icon of the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa for over 35 years. The venue brought people together during the dark times of apartheid, defying the laws of separation and creating social cohesion – and it was the music of South African legends such as Hugh Masekela, Busi Mhlongu and Ladysmith Black Mambazo which spoke to everyone. DUrbanTV visited the venue to discover some of its history and cultural significance.
