Professor at the Durban University of Technology and member of the BRICS Research Institute, Zamokuhle Mbandlwa spoke about South Africa’s economic plans and directions of the country’s presidency in the G20 association. In his exclusive commentary for Prof. Mbandlwa emphasised that South Africa’s presidency of the G20 should be understood not as a national milestone but as an achievement for the entire African continent. He noted that Pretoria’s chosen agenda – centred on solidarity, equality and sustainability – reflects issues that resonate far beyond South Africa’s borders.
According to the Professor, the principle of solidarity is fundamental at a time when global issues demand coordinated responses. On equality, he highlighted the importance of ensuring that all individuals receive fair treatment and equitable opportunities.
