Playhouse raises the curtain for Africa Month

It’s Africa Month and to celebrate the Playhouse Company proudly presents a variety of performers back to it’s stage.

13-15 May – Refugees.

Directed by Jerry Pooe, Refugees takes the audience through the journey that reflects personal stories expressing pain, sadness, soul searching and hope, questioning and exploring the power of religion and spirituality. How do we define Freedom? What is a Refugee? The story is told through movement, song, images and narration in a physical theatre method.


15th May – The Themba Mkhize Jazz Experience.

Award winning jazz musician and pianist Themba Mkhize takes to The Playhouse Company Opera Stage for a one night only concert on the 15th of May at 19:00. Accompanied by Afrika Mkhize & contemporary Afro Jazz vocalist Nokukhanya Dlamini, the show is set to be an unforgettable musical celebration of South African Jazz.


21st May – Mbuso Khoza

Accompanied by a 16-voice strong acapella outfit, The Afrikan Heritage Ensemble, Mbuso Khoza presents a selection of Africa-centric music consisting of both original compositions as well as other seminal works by African giants in an amazing one night concert on The Playhouse Company Opera Stage on the 21st of May at 19h00.
