South Coast launches Great Drives Out route

Visitors from the KZN South Coast and beyond participated in the hugely successful launch of the KwaNzimakwe Multi-Trails on Sunday, 3 November, forming part of Ugu South Coast Tourism’s Great Drives Out route. In attendance were Mayor of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM), Cllr Cynthia Mqwebu; local traditional leader, Inkosi B.S. Nzimakwe; and CEO of USCT Phelisa Mangcu. Commenting on the launch, Mangcu said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who came out to support and experience the extension of our tourist routes to our communities as this gives visitors a unique experience of the region’s traditional heritage and natural beauty. There are many plans to further develop this area, so watch this space!” Visitors got to enjoy the Halfway Toyota 4×4 obstacle and demo course as well as the 4-hour trail excursion. The South Coast Striders hosted a 4-kilometre family trail hike with four-legged friends invited, and there was a 22-kilometre off-road motorcycle trail in support of Stuart Gregory’s ‘Nuts4Dakar’ campaign. Also in attendance was South Coast Hospice, an organisation providing palliative care and support to medical patients.
